Do I have to be a BrandShyp client to refer someone?
No. Anyone can refer a business. If you’re a current client, your reward is account credit on your next invoice; if you’re not, you can take cash, a gift card, or a charity donation instead.
When do I actually get the reward?
In stages, as the referral proves real. For a retainer: $250 once they’ve completed their first ~60 days (their second invoice), then a further $250 if they’re still a client at 6 months. For a one-off project: once the project is paid in full. It’s not paid at introduction or on day one — that keeps the program fair and the referrals genuine.
Can I refer someone for a government contract?
No — this program is for commercial (private-sector) work only. Paying a referral fee on federal contract work runs into anti-kickback and procurement-integrity rules, so federal opportunities go through our capability and teaming channels instead. Rewards are void on federal contract work.
How much is the reward?
Up to $500 per business you refer that becomes a paying client. On a monthly retainer that’s $250 once they’ve stayed past their first ~60 days, plus a $250 bonus if they’re still with us at 6 months. On a one-off project it’s the lesser of $500 or 15% of the project value (projects $1,000+). Current clients can take it as account credit on their next invoice; everyone else can take cash, a gift card, or a charity donation. The business you refer also gets a free assessment and 10% off their first engagement.
Are there any tax details I should know?
If your cash rewards total $600 or more in a calendar year, we’ll need a W-9 from you and will issue a 1099. Account credit and charity donations avoid that paperwork — which is part of why credit is the simplest option for current clients.
What counts as a valid referral?
A net-new business that isn’t already a BrandShyp client or already in our pipeline, introduced for commercial work, with your permission to share their contact details. You can’t refer your own company or yourself.
